Dear friends,

Most of you know that our new chef of eight months unexpectedly quit near the end of last year.  Doris, our chef for the previous 10 years, graciously stepped-in and finished the year with her usual fabulous New Year’s eight course dinner.

For me, an unexpected turn of event such as this should cause one to pause and ponder what direction the future should take. My reaction was to step-back, take a deep breath, and do some serious thinking. Pat’s was to immediately re-invent Orchard Hill without a fulltime chef and that is exactly what she did.

Orchard Hill’s niche market has always been focused on special people celebrating special occasions. Pat expanded and extended our traditional hors d’oeuvres gathering and created a special presentation for those celebrating important occasions. These presentations are delivered personally as a “surprise” for guests to enjoy in their room. 

The new venue had an immediate and overwhelming positive response. Guests had more time to get to know each other during hors d’oeuvres and enjoy each other’s company and the presentations have indeed made for that “special” feeling.

Now, when you add the improved dining available in Julian and the positive feedback that we are getting, I asked Pat, “Do you really want to subject yourself to the never-ending challenges associated with re-booting the kitchen?” “Of course,” she responded, “but I have some thoughts I want to discuss with you!”

Now I have a standing dinner date with Pat every Sunday night. It’s our date night.  For me, it does not get any better than that, and we would love to have you join us.


Sunday Supper

Beginning Sunday, September 20th and continuing each Sunday thereafter throughout the calendar year, there will be a special dinner in a special place.  

Fresh and made to order, our traditional four-course dinner will be prepared by Chef Doris and served graciously in our Julian and Craftsman dining rooms.  

Seasonal menu is subject to change. Special diets are accommodated. Dinner is $45 per person. Alcoholic beverages and gratuity are not included.
